Inspiration

Before creating the Guildwork you're using today, Stanislav gained recognition by programming the renowned exDKP system. Originally intended for a FINAL FANTASY XI guild, Excellence, it was custom-tailored to fit their needs. While successful, its exclusivity limited the product's full potential. Believing exDKP could benefit a significantly bigger group of people – like the MMO community at large – Stanislav promptly built a public version. Hosted on his own servers, it swiftly attracted curious gamers who simultaneously reaped its benefits and revealed its shortcomings.

Since exDKP's customization options were scarce, and its code wasn't suitable for public distribution, Stanislav's dream went unrealized. Nonetheless, these truths – paired with its moderate success – taught valuable lessons. The resultant inspiration ensured the continued survival of the Guildwork concept, even though a demanding professional life forced Stanislav to abandon FINAL FANTASY XI and World of Warcraft in July of 2009.

Collaboration

With the little free time he had left, Stanislav resumed working on what would eventually become Guildwork, and invited his friend, Wambulance, to work on the project beside him. They started small, envisioning a customizable guild management system that would shine more brilliantly than exDKP ever had. It could be distributed freely, allowing guilds of all colors to create their own robust, versatile sites, no matter what MMORPG they played.

Motivated, their dreams grew. Instead of forcing MMO players to put up their own sites, they considered elbowing their way into the guild hosting business. Though the market wasn't empty, they weren't intimidated by their competitors; they were determined to release a product that would outperform them all.

With streamlined, user-friendly interfaces, seamless tool integration, and a rich feature set – all freshly programmed from the ground up – they knew Guildwork would be unique, powerful, and without rival. In spite of such promise, they felt something was missing, and wouldn't discover what it was till September of 2009. On their way to the Penny Arcade Expo, Stanislav and Wambulance passed the time by discussing the recent social networking boom, and praised how it simplified internet communication. Suddenly, they had an epiphany – a social structure was precisely what Guildwork needed!

Creation

After the show, they returned to their homes, scrapped virtually all of their hard work, and eagerly began anew. Not only would their project provide a superior guild management system, but every part of it would be tied together within a sleek, intuitive social networking interface. By consolidating numerous websites into one incredible guild hosting system – making sure every individual component functioned as brilliantly as the rest – they would save MMORPG players time, and give them their own place to congregate, where they would receive the respect they deserve.

Likewise, Guildwork was growing into something incredible, and needed the appropriate attention. It represented the next level of MMORPG guild management, and called for Stanislav and Wambulance's maximum effort. Dedicated to realizing the dream they now shared, the two quit their full time jobs, and poured themselves into creating the site you use today: the perfect MMORPG hub, Guildwork.
