Hey everyone!

You may have noticed this week I released Guildwork XMPP which allowed you to use Guildwork Chat on your desktop or phone IM client.

Today I have a treat for all FINAL FANTASY XI players who are subscribed to Guildwork Premium.

After you setup XMPP you just have to enable remote chat in the staging settings.

After that you will receive tells on your IM client. If you want to send a tell to someone you can do so using this format.

<character>@ffxi.<server>.<your character> e.g. krispy@ffxi.cerberus.stanislav

Enjoy!

Just tested it from my iPhone and from Jabber client, works pretty well! Now I can afk while people preparing for an event and just get a notification via /tell when everything is ready, right to the phone, instead of having to monitor a web page :D.

I think us having something like this is really amazing. Thanks a lot for the hard work, Stan! :)

Is there a walkthrough or something for this? I can't get it to work >.< "After you setup XMPP"… How do we setup XMPP? Do friends that you want to send a tell in game to have to have guildwork/guildwork premium also? Where do we enter this "character@ffxi.server.your character?" Sorry for all the questions, never done this before ^^;

edit: Ok I got it so I can receive tells on Trillian, but I can't send them. Please help XD

Setting up XMPP is as simple as choosing an XMPP client and logging in on it.

Your friends do not have to have Guildwork Premium.

The rest should be obvious once you use the XMPP application. =)

Yeah I got all that for the most part now. I just can't send tells, but I can receive them. It's the same for me for the Remote Chat.

So what you are saying is when you someone messages you in-game you do in fact receive it on your XMPP client, you are just not able to reply or start new tells?

Yes, exactly.

But you are also saying this fails to work on the web Remote Chat UI or only over XMPP?

It's the same with the remote chat when I try to talk in linkshell, party or tells. I type what I want to say and hit enter, the text I typed disappears and nothing is sent.
